HeadX Duo headband and connected assessment app.

HeadX Duo

Crosshair laser with app-connected movement analysis

HeadX Duo combines crosshair-laser feedback with an inertial sensor and companion app. During a defined task, it records angular head movement for review. A clinician selects the protocol and interprets the output.

What does it do

  • HeadX app cervical range of motion results displayed on a smartphone.

    Range of Motion

The app records angular change during a clinician-selected active movement task. Review depends on consistent fitting, calibration and task instructions.

  • HeadX app joint position sense target-analysis screen.

    Joint Position Sense

During a defined head-repositioning task, the app records angular error for interpretation alongside symptoms and the wider assessment.

  • HeadX app head-stability assessment results screen.

    Stability & Control

The app records angular variation while a person performs a defined head-hold or movement task. The clinician defines the task and interprets the output.

Cervical Range of Motion

What it measures: The total angular range of active cervical movement across all planes, recorded in degrees. Because Duo uses an integrated IMU, no inclinometer, goniometer, or external reference target is required..

Cervical Joint Position Sense

What it assesses: how closely a person returns the head to a reference position after active movement.

Duo uses its integrated inertial sensor to record angular repositioning error without requiring a fixed wall distance. The result should be interpreted with the test protocol, symptoms and wider clinical assessment.

FAQ

What is the HeadX Duo?

HeadX Duo combines a head-mounted crosshair laser with an inertial sensor and companion app. During a defined task it records angular head movement and presents the protocol-specific output, such as active movement range or head-repositioning error. A clinician selects the protocol and interprets the result.

How does the HeadX Duo differ from the HeadX Kross?

HeadX Kross provides crosshair-laser visual feedback without digital data capture. HeadX Duo retains crosshair-laser feedback and adds app-connected inertial sensing, recording angular movement data for repeated-session review. The appropriate device depends on whether the clinician needs visual feedback alone or recorded measurement data.

What does the HeadX Duo record?

The inertial sensor records angular head movement during a defined task. The app can present outputs for active cervical movement and angular error during a head-repositioning task. Movement quality, control, symmetry or impairment are clinical interpretations rather than diagnoses generated by the device.

Which defined tasks can include HeadX Duo?

A suitably qualified clinician may select Duo within a defined active cervical movement or head-repositioning protocol. The recorded output is interpreted alongside symptoms, history and other findings. Duo does not diagnose concussion, whiplash-associated disorder, vestibular dysfunction, neck pain or other conditions.

How is HeadX Duo data accessed and stored?

Session data is stored on the device running the HeadX Duo app and can be exported using the functions available in the app. Organisations remain responsible for consent, access control, backup and their own data-governance requirements. Review the current privacy policy and app-store disclosures before deployment.

Who is the HeadX Duo designed for?

HeadX Duo is intended for suitably qualified clinicians and researchers who require recorded cervical movement data to support assessment, repeated-session review or a defined research protocol.
