Duo uses its integrated inertial sensor to record angular repositioning error without requiring a fixed wall distance. The result should be interpreted with the test protocol, symptoms and wider clinical assessment.

What is the HeadX Duo?
The HeadX Duo is a head-mounted cervical assessment and rehabilitation device that combines a patented crosshair laser with an integrated nine-axis inertial measurement unit (IMU). It measures and records head and neck movement in real time, capturing range of motion, movement velocity, symmetry, and joint position sense across multiple axes. Data is transmitted via Bluetooth to dedicated iOS and Android applications.
How does the HeadX Duo differ from the HeadX Kross?
HeadX Kross provides crosshair-laser visual feedback without digital data capture. HeadX Duo retains crosshair-laser feedback and adds app-connected inertial sensing, recording angular movement data for repeated-session review. The appropriate device depends on whether the clinician needs visual feedback alone or recorded measurement data.
What does the HeadX Duo measure?
The HeadX Duo measures cervical range of motion (CROM) across flexion, extension, left and right rotation, and lateral flexion. It also supports Joint Position Sense (JPS) assessment, capturing the angular error between a target position and the patient's repositioning accuracy. Movement velocity, control, repeatability, and left-right symmetry can also be derived from the recorded data.
What clinical assessments can be performed with the HeadX Duo?
HeadX Duo supports cervical range-of-motion and Joint Position Sense protocols. A suitably qualified clinician may select it when cervical movement or head-repositioning data are relevant after an assessment. It does not diagnose concussion, whiplash-associated disorder, vestibular dysfunction, neck pain or other conditions.
How is HeadX Duo data accessed and stored?
Data is recorded in real time via the HeadX Duo app on iOS or Android. All session data is stored locally on the clinician's device, ensuring full practitioner control over patient information without dependency on third-party cloud services. Data can be exported for offline analysis, longitudinal tracking, or research reporting.
